Everyone on this earth was born to live a life, full of happiness, good health, safety, peace and serenity: free from violence, abuse, brutality, cruelty, aggression, exploitation, manipulation and mistreatment. However saying this does not mean every person on this earth has this path available for them to walk. The important thing is that you must strive for a life of joy and fulfilment, you must defend another person’s right to have shelter, food and safety in their lives and protect all people regardless of differences, from prejudice and persecution.
You may ask ‘how can one person can make a difference’ when there appears to be so much devastation, desolation and destruction throughout the world. People living in countries and under regimes with no personal power due to race, age, religion or political restrictions & laws. The way to do this is too reach out to those people around you. Don’t hide away in fear & anxiety, become tolerant of others. Enquire & question, check sources & widen your knowledge input; make sure the information you are receiving is not coated in
another’s personal agenda. Don’t trust others to tell you how to live your life & how others need to live theirs.
Knowledge is Power – Do Not give your Power away or take another’s from them.
We all have the possibility to help create positive change, however you may procrastinate saying you are too busy or the challenge appears overwhelming. Remember one small action may make the difference in a life. Each person has the ability to make a difference in some way, at any stage through action, deed or word.
Starfish Story: A young man is walking along the ocean and sees a beach on which thousands & thousands of starfish have washed ashore. Further along he sees an old man, walking slowly & stooping often, picking up one starfish after another & tossing each one gently into the ocean. “Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?” he asks. “Because the sun is up & the tide is going out & if I don’t throw them further in they will die.” “But, old man, don’t you realize there are miles & miles of beach & starfish all along it! You can’t possibly save them all, you can’t even save one-tenth of them. In fact, even if you work all day, your efforts won’t make any difference at all.” The old man listened calmly & then bent down to pick up another starfish & threw it into the sea. “It made a difference to that one.”
