Mould – The Hidden Killer

When we have these hot, humid days
We may go to swim and outside to play
Yet in the house the mould is flourishing
The places damp and wet are nourishing
Some types of growth can be wiped away
Yet others in the walls will stay
You may not see as they grow in size
Their spores will travel and hurt your eyes
They cause stomach upset, headaches & pain
You may just not be able to find strength again
Moisture and damp is its habitat
The cleanest home can have mould impact.

Mould is type of fungi, found everywhere, however not all are harmful. It thrives in moist environments, spreads easily, and lives on a variety of surfaces. Mould can be black, brown, yellow, pink & green, may have a musty odour and mould spores may develop in: damp basements, mouldy carpets, from water leaks, soggy drywall, cellar floors, seepage through foundation walls, dehumidifiers, air filters, air conditioners, window condensation, defective plumbing, damp bathrooms, and potted plants.

Children may always be at a greater risk of reactions and identification of specific mould spores may useful when treating health effects from mould exposure.
