From one Seed

There are so many ways to grow a child
Whether you tame them or let them run wild
Being a mum or a dad is so great
A role that may come through choice or by fate.
You can grow your own family or integrate more
Be a part of another or include those you adore
Always show love, patience and care
And realise that growing is a scary affair
Help them to understand what they must do
And always remember they will copy you too
Be the example, they follow in life
Be the person they call when in strife
Don’t walk away when the times get too hard
Just open your heart and lower your guard.

Our growth starts from the moment we are conceived to the present day. The strength of the seed planted and fertilized is important and comes from the health of the parents. Then there is the environment that is created for the seed to grow – is it strong, clean and nourishing?

I was out to lunch and astonished to see a pregnant women and her partner sitting outside in the garden both smoking. Have we still not got full awareness that whatever the MOTHER does, the BABY does. This environment is the baby’s fertilizer for its development; it needs Clean Food, Good Water, Fresh Air, Sunshine, Unstressed Mummy, NO Alcohol, NO Cigarettes and NO Drugs whether medicinal or supplementary unless absolutely checked and rechecked. Therapeutic oils may also be harmful to a baby.

Historically we were told that the drug Thalidomide was safe. The thalidomide disaster is one of the darkest episodes in pharmaceutical research history, marketed as a mild sleeping pill, safe for pregnant women and affected more than 100,000 babies in total.

This beginning is critical and the start of our health timeline. Be vigilant in your pursuit of health and environment.

Next the birth, natural is most beneficial for you and the baby; giving the baby beneficial bacteria, lower incidence of respiratory problems, asthma and obesity. Those mothers who through health reasons need to have a Cesarean birth, to promote baby’s healthy gut bacteria – breast-feeding for a few weeks if possible is good, breast milk and on the skin around the nipple have been shown to contribute to the seeding of the infant gut.

Remember all mothers and babies are different, do not define yourself on the definition of others. Do your best and if you show love, security and stability, you have given your newborn seedlings the best start they could have to grow.
