Anxiety the Hidden Feeling

If you are feeling sad and low
And really don’t know where to go
If you don’t know what to say
And drag yourself throughout the day
If friends and family aren’t close by
And you don’t know what to try
If your finances have seemed to drop
If you don’t know how to stop
Just sit down quietly and breathe in deep
Or lie down on your bed to sleep
Give yourself some time to think
Things can change within a blink
There is only one like you
So fight to live a life that’s true

Anxiety is more common in woman than men, and yet something we may all feel at some
time in our lives. When anxiety doesn’t stop, gets more often and affects you in everyday
life, then you need to recognise the triggers, and implement strategies to reduce and
eliminate it.
Anxiety may result in fear, shortness of breath, dizziness, heart racing, inability to
concentrate or carry out ordinary tasks at home, work or school, disturbed sleep,
excessively worrying, feeling apprehensive or powerless, feelings of doom or danger,
increased heart rate, rapid breathing, shortness of breath, sweating, trembling, dry
mouth, stomach or chest pain, diarrhea, muscle tension and /or difficulty sleeping or a
panic attack. Anxiety can also be caused by genetic factors plus ongoing stress, grief, all
forms of abuse, life-threatening events, pregnancy, childbirth and family history.
Caffeine, and certain Personality types, such as being a perfectionist, having low selfesteem
or the need to be in control can make people more susceptible to anxiety.
Everyone is different and there is often a combination of factors contributing to an anxiety
condition.
Actions you can take to reduce anxiety are to exercise regularly, do relaxation techniques
such as meditation, Pilates, yoga, limit alcohol, cigarettes and drug use, practice deep
breathing and change your self-talk.
