Reach Out to Another

In a time where things have changed
And lives are mixed and rearranged
Don’t forget we are all one race
Take your time, meet face to face
There are people who live all alone
Some are solitary in their homes
Don’t live in fear and don’t step back
Never retreat just stay on track
Everything in time will pass
Nothing bad or good will last
Life is a journey live it strong
Reach out to others the whole day long.

Now more than ever before, it is necessary to reach out and support, care, talk and connect with other people.
The loss of HOPE, stress over money, work, future prospects, health, working long hours, and rushing about
without the time to stop and speak to others may result in isolation, loneliness, violence, initiate mental illness or
even suicide.
The never ending hours’ spent on some form of social media, accumulating friends that will never be around
when needed or getting lots of LIKE buttons that give a false belief that you are in a deep understanding,
supportive relationship with people who truly care about your wellbeing. A computer screen is not a person, a
Like button is not a test of friendship, and having lots of people who Follow you is not an indication that you are
popular.
Touch is important to assist your growth and development and the positive aspects of physically connecting with
someone are extensive, Touch creates intimacy, feelings of trust and connectedness, signalling in the body an
emotion of safety, reducing stress, activating the Vagus nerve, calming the cardiovascular system and nervous
system and reducing heart rate and blood pressure. Skin Hunger or Touch Deprivation occurs when you
experience little to no touch from other living things and can result in anger, mental and physical illness.
There are simple easy ways you can reach out to others, if physically touching someone seems daunting and
unavailable then SMILE at people passing you in the street and say Hi; talk to a person and ask about their day
when waiting in line, pat a pet or comment on another person’s dog when out walking; Tell someone how lovely
they look in a coloured shirt or dress, make a quick call to someone just to see how they are travelling and tell
them about you too. Don’t wait, take action now, you and others need to connect.
